//Introduction//

Well lookee here, another CheeseMix!
This is gonna be awesome.
I'm a bit miffed that it's come so late in the year though.
I had grand plans for "Cheeseland: The Sound Of Summer" and planned to ask people to step big party classics, anything from "Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!!" to "Wig Wam Bam" - and back again!
Oh well. Maybe next year.

As we have it though, CheeseMix 2 is shaping up to be brilliant!
(Even though half the entries people have registered are songs I've been working on for ages. Humph.

//About the song & artists//

The Vengaboys were a hugely popular dance-pop act who had hits from 1998-2001.
They toured across Europe in their "Vengabus" throwing impromptu parties wherever they stopped.
After their last single they stayed together for several years and began to tour Europe again.
I met them in 2002 when they performed in Brannigans in Chester.
Two of my friends went as Cowboys and we got to meet them. :D
One of them had the exact same trainers on as me. Scary!

"Shalala lala" is a cover version, but I don't know who sang the original. Nor does anybody I know!
It's one of those songs that just makes you smile when you hear it, and more so if you watch the video. ;)
It has that classic summer pop sound that you just don't hear anymore. Well... maybe in Blackpool. :D

The track is taken from "The Platinum Album", their second and last album.

While not *quite* as good as their first release, "Greatest Hits"/"The Party Album!" it still spawned 5 hit singles, including "Kiss (When The Sun Don't Shine)", "Uncle John From Jamaica", "Cheekah Bow Bow (That Computer Song)" and "Forever As One".
Oh... and this one!

I released the first version of this file way back in March 2004, but I was never happy with the video as it was the crummy censored version and was stretched out of its original screen proportions.
I hated it being that way, but for some reason the "maintain aspect radio" mode in Adobe Premiere wouldn't set the black borders right.

I am now using the original edit of the video, and this new version is presented to you in all its widescreen glory.
As it has not been censored by some pesky Brits you can expect a lot more innuendo, bottom slapping and boob squeezing.
Um, and girls... just look at the cowboy for a while. He has his own private DDR machine you know!

I took extra time to edit this video, as rather than just taking the parts i needed that fit the song, I cut the video into scenes and rearranged them so that the "storyline" was still coherent for the shorter running time.
I had to leave out the bit where the police raid the place and they all get arrested, but it was either that or the boobs I'm afraid!

//About the steps//

BEGINNER:
These are just your usual beginner steps.
The only difference with these is that I have delayed timing of the first step (compared to the other difficulties) to give people time to get accustomed to the beat.

BASIC:
These are a fun 3, designed for someone who yearns to pass 4 footers but is scared. The steps are set out so that they are slightly more complex in places, but not for too long. They kind of feel like a 2 in places, but also a 4. For the purposes of this new version I've just tideied up the pattern a bit.

TRICK:
These are your average 5 foot steps, and you'd be forgiven for thinking they are a simplified version of Maniac. They sure look it but I made them independently. I've tried to make these like the 5 footers I used to play on 5th Mix a few years back. We need to test them out on some townies! These new steps retain most of the original ones, only simplified.

MANIAC:
Well they're hardly Maniacal but I think they're fun!
I got rid of all the stupid unnecessary hard steps here, as when I made this file I gave in to peer pressure to make my songs harder and it just didn't work did it?
These are quite a fun 7, with a couple of *slightly* trick parts but nothing to get in a sweat over! What's the moral of the story? Follow your heart!

//About the graphics//

Photo of group - taken from enhanced CD single of "Shalala lala" - tweaked in Adobe Photoshop 7
vengaboys logo - taken from enhanced CD single of "Forever As One"
Pretty little mountain and cottage - drawn in Macromedia Flash MX.
"Shalala lala" font - "Dolphins"
Banner and bg created in Adobe Photoshop 7 and Macromedia Flash MX
Banner created at 512 x 160 pixels then scaled down to DDR size.
Music video - found on Kazaa ages ago, edited in Adobe Premiere.

I've had a picture in my head as to what these graphics should look like - and I think I'm almost there now!
The banner is a shameless ripoff of the inside of the sleeve to the Shalala lala CD single, only not as good. (I got lazy!)

Thank you all for playing this file, I always try and make my mixes that little bit different and I hope I've suceeded.
Look out for more shiny new versions of my older stuff coming out all the time,
plus a lot more due out before the years end. (I hope!)

...and thanks to the many thousands of you that have downloaded "TOXIC" and "CALL ON ME" from BemaniStyle - why not PM me to find out how to get the update packs with my annoying little minor changes!

BIG Thanks to everyone at DDRExtreme.co.uk for being so cool.
